I am an Anglican Priest who served in active ministry in Ocean Beach from 1979-2019 and am currently enjoying an active retirement. When I arrived in our community, I attended local Ecumenical Clergy meetings monthly, and soon learned that the new ministry, Ocean Beach Emergency Food, commonly referred to as Loaves & Fishes, was facing a challenging increase of rent at the local Women’s Club. Consulting with our parish leadership, we agreed to invite the ministry to move to our building at no cost. We were blessed to host the food bank until our parish left the building in 2010. Several years later, the food bank moved to its current location, and I was elected President of the Board in 2020. While ideally there would be no need for a food bank, we are blessed that Loaves & Fishes has continued to address the needs of the hungry in our community for 45 years and hope to continue to do so as long as the need exists.
